Yoga History
Yoga, from the Sanskrit "Yuj", translates into the word "union". Yoga, in this translation, relates to the union of body and mind, of the physical and energetic, of the connection with Spirit. Yoga in its broadest translation developed thousands of years ago in the Indus Valley of the sub-continent of India. There were many spiritual disciplines, and types of yoga, which originated from this region. There were many schools and branches which emerged, but many can be traced back to one of the original types. Some of these original different types of yoga are:

You will notice that all of the practices have a foundation in some form of an ethical code or personal behaviour model (yama niyama). Not unlike many spiritual or religious traditions around the world. The student would not begin the authentic work on the path of yoga until it was clear they had a solid foundation. You will also note that the final achievement on the path is transformation, or enlightenment, or oneness. Again, that place is universal, beyond the beliefs or dogma of any one path.
Most of the yoga practices in the West fall under the category of Hatha yoga. It means that the disciplines and practices contain a primary focus on the body and the postures (asana). Many individuals use the term "yoga" to describe just one of the many types of spiritual discipline which are now practiced in the West. All of these types have 'schools' sometimes termed lineages or traditions, within them. For example, Trinity Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga (basically 'school' of Kripalu yoga with influences of Raja yoga and Kundalini yoga).
Trinity Yoga is an internally focused, meditative practice of physical postures. The practice explores the 'science of yoga'. More specifically, it veers away from the vast array of religious and faith based practices, and hones in more on the tools and techniques for supporting and transforming the body/mind. These practices are a means to realize our true potential, regardless of age, race, sex or personal beliefs. This true potential is not reached by the achieving linear mind, as much by the gradual awakening of the inherent guidance and wisdom from within.
