Yoga Teacher Training

Excellent program in terms of both the teacher training and the lifestyle aspects. Well organized with effective flow from one component to another with good integration. The directors bring the content with authenticity, experience, knowledge, humour and caring. A truly meaningful program. This program has led me onto a path of meaningfulness in my life with the integration of yoga, community, friendship, leadership and spirituality. Coming to yoga later in life (mid) I felt a need to 'catch up'. I came to deepen my practice and what I received was an incredible, eye-opening heartfelt journey into self towards self.

The 500 Hour Program

We are excited to offer our unique 500-Hour Professional Yoga Teacher Training program.

This program will span the course of 8 months. It will include in-depth practice and education in the classic path of yoga. Students will receive ongoing mentoring and coaching throughout the training, which will guarantee the integration of the experience. Our program is designed to take a dedicated yoga practitioner more profoundly into the yogic lifestyle.  We create community, a special gathering (called ‘kula’ in sanskrit’, to explore together the deeper practices.

Over 8 months our studies will illuminate not only intermediate yoga postures and pranayama, but the philosophy that supports us in uncovering the true self.  We explore mentoring, and teach you to mentor your yoga students in the full breadth of the yogic experience, the integration of body, mind, and spirit.  With a high percentage of time with the senior teaching staff, and support for exploration with mentors in the Trinity Yoga community, this program guarantees hands on, experiential learning modalities.

Growth as a yoga teacher calls for commitment to practice, expansion of knowledge, and openness to inspiration. This integrated training will support your development personally and professionally and gain deeper experience with a variety of tools for offering extraordinary yoga classes and living an extraordinary life. Trinity Yoga Centre offers 500-hour certification for yoga teachers of all traditions who want to further their study and deepen their experience of practice.

The Kripalu Experience of Today

We are a Kripalu Yoga tradition, and yet, even within Kripalu we see an amalgamation of various traditions and practices.  The Kripalu lineage is a merging of the Hatha / Tantric practices of Swami Kripalu interwoven with the westernized practices of Patanjali’s Ashtanga, or 8 fold path.  In the contemporary exploration of Kripalu Yoga some of the basic relational and communication tools of western psychology have also helped serve budding spiritual practitioners.

In the 30 years since Swami Kripalu's passing, times have changed. The classic guru model is gone, and really, the structure it was built upon is finished (the vertical paradigm of unconditional surrender to the guru's dictate).   As a famous teacher recently said "the next gurus come from our own village". So what now? We are left with ourselves, with each other. We have the gift of freedom in exploring our own practice, while, at the same time we have the responsibility to move the dharma forward.  We must be the change we wish to see in the world. Yet the road to freedom is not clearly marked, nor are there shouts from the sidelines guiding our way.

We arrive here, now. We use our developing practice to 'know thyself'.  There is nothing really to accomplish or master, but rather using the tools of yoga to know who we are and where we are.  At this point, we recognize we have a choice; to continue in the well worn tracks of our personal mind and behaviour, or, use our newly established presence to walk our own unique path. In that unique journey lies our freedom, our healing, our service, our transformation. A transmutation of old layers of energies, in to the blossoming of our true self.

This training is our offering to you. We lead the course, but only in the sense of building the riverbanks that hold the experience and information.  You are the water that carries the container of the experience and knowledge to your own practice and teaching.  We will explore time tested practices and philosophy of our Kripalu lineage, with a background of a non-dual awareness, an understanding that ultimately there is nothing to do. That said we want to develop the 'container' of a balanced lower self to explore the possibility of setting ourselves free to our higher self.
