Yoga, from the sanskrit “Yuj”, translates into the word “union”. Yoga, therefore, is a union of body and mind, of the physical and energetic, of the oneness with Spirit. Developed thousands of years ago, the science of yoga is a means to realize our true potential, regardless of age, race, sex or religious beliefs. The vision of yoga is a technique that teaches us how to be in the present moment.This new level of consciousness evolves through yogic practices aimed at developing an ever increasing awareness of our various levels of experience.

“Yoga is to be undertaken for the sake of Truth itself, for the sake of
what the Buddha termed ‘unshakable deliverance of heart.”
-Bhagavad Gita

There are different types of yoga, such as;
  • Hatha Yoga - the yoga of physical postures
  • Karma Yoga - the yoga of selfless service
  • Bhakti Yoga - the yoga of devotion
  • Jnana Yoga - the yoga path of knowledge and wisdom
  • Raja Yoga - the yoga of meditation

All of these types have ‘schools’ within them. For example, Trinity Yoga, is a form of Hatha Yoga. Trinity yoga is an internally focused, meditative practice of physical postures. There are many benefits in practicing Hatha yoga, such as stretching and toning muscles, releasing chronic tension, improving circulation and energizing and revitalizing the body. Yoga is an exploration into the relationship between body and mind, invoking calm and cultivating concentration. Ultimately, the practice of yoga allows a deeper connection to your true self.

Kripalu Yoga

This is a practice which unites Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga harmoniously and simultaneously. Kripalu Yoga builds compassion & acceptance of our body & mind through a 3 stage experience. Willfully created postures, performed with attention to the details of alignment and the flow of breath, building over time, allow stored energy & tensions to release initiating a natural process of physical healing, psychological growth, spiritual awakening and ultimately, a meditation in motion, an experience of being guided from within. It is in these moments of deep concentration, allowing ourselves to witness the flow of sensation, that the flow of energy is activated and the body’s wisdom awakened.
