Integrative Yoga and Health Training
The Integrative Yoga and Health Teacher Training Program at Trinity Yoga Centre provides you with expertise drawn from the ancient wisdom and practice of yoga, to the state of the art understanding of contemporary nutritional health systems. This is a course for students to build their own strong foundation in yoga and health systems, or, use their training to lead and teach others how to optimize their own health. We believe that each of us is a teacher, a mentor, and has an opportunity to bring positive change to our bodies and our world. M.K. Guide people into natural balance and health. This training includes all the components of the 200 hour training, as well as 100 hours of Holistic Health Counseling training. Holistic Health and education are among the fastest-growing fields in the country. This additional component offers a true mind-body-spirit paradigm, emphasizing self-responsibility, a deeper understanding and healing for your own body, and empowering you to guide others in a process of establishing and maintaining optimum health through co creative solutions. A portion of the Holistic Health training hours can be applied to Trinity Yoga Centre’s 500 hour creditation.
Curriculum
Philosophy
Includes an introduction to Yoga Philosophy, Patanjali’s Eight Fold Path of Ashtanga Yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, Chakras, Mantras, Mudras, and Metta Meditation.
Asanas
You will learn 30 introductory level postures in-depth including benefits and contraindications; Kripalu Press Point technology; a full range of warm-ups and adaptations to support a variety of yoga students including prenatal, postnatal, injuries and more.
Pranayama
Students will learn four yoga breathing practices as well as how to teach them, understanding and applying the locks.
Anatomy and Physiology
The curriculum covers traditional Anatomy and physiology including the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, nervous, lymphatic systems, internal organs, digestion and elimination; as well as anatomy as it applies to yoga.
Teaching Methodology
The teaching methodology covers how to assist, leading stage 1 postures, creating a centering, Basic meditation techniques, cultivating spiritual maturity as a yoga teacher, sequencing, a Beginner’s Series – Level 1, a Beginner’s Series – Level 2, the principles of delivery, the philosophy of touch.
Holistic Health
This component includes dietary theory such as The Zone, Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Blood Type Diet, Macrobiotics, as well as raw foods, veganism, Ayurveda, Five Elements, juicing, fasting, among others. We will also focus on hands-on cooking classes, seasonal cooking, vibrational cooking; modern dietary issues such as food/mood connection, conscious eating, diet therapy, cravings and how to build and support a professional Holistic Health practice.
Prerequisites
Students should have a minimum of 2 years yoga experience and/or at least 6 months with a certified instructor. However, each student will be assessed individually based on their commitment to their practice, their objectives and experience.
Tuition and Application Procedures
Tuition for this program is $4,295 (+GST). Tuition includes weekend class instruction, some weekend night cooking classes, e-mail study groups, a 60 class punchcard for yoga classes (a $600 value), monthly individual one on one mentoring (an $800 value), all handouts, course activities, a yoga teacher training manual, various yoga and health books, a certificate upon completion and a one year Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association membership.
The Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association (KYTA) has more than 2,200 members and provides business tools, inspirational newsletters and CD’s, an annual conference, access to grants, insurance resources, online support, and more.
Students must fill out and submit an application form. Upon acceptance into the program, a $300 deposit is required, of which $25 is non-refundable. The balance of payment is due at the start of the training program. Other payment plans may be considered for applicants with special circumstances.
Training Schedule
This course takes place September through May, one weekend a month.
